Ballet

All Ages

Ballet originated in the Italian Renaissance courts of the 15th century, and was further developed in FranceEngland, and Russia. It has since become a highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary.  It is a poised style of dance that incorporates the foundational techniques for many other dance forms. It particularly encourages great awareness of the body and its posture, alignment and placement.

Ballet is a traditional and disciplined art form, to which our teachers bring the latest in technical training ideas, making our philosophy and classes uniquely modern and enjoyable for children. Pliè teaches the Cecchetti method of classical ballet, providing a sound grounding in ballet positions, movement and technique. Ballet forms the basis of dance technique across all genres of dance. Principal Vicki Clare-Geluk is a dual qualified ballet teacher- one of only a few teachers in Sydney to hold qualifications in both RAD & Cecchetti. All our staff are fully qualified and passionate about ballet & our students. Our students achieve high results in their Cecchetti exams, with many of our students achieving perfect scores.

Please note: To be considered for exams, students must attend at least 2 ballet classes per week. from grade 1, and 3 ballet classes per week from grade 6.
